Hello, I’ve been thinking more about the DNS backend options, and I wanted to suggest implementing an option to use bind9_dlz as the DNS backend. This feature would allow more flexibility and customization for users who need specific DNS configurations.
Currently, there are some limitations with the Samba Internal DNS backend that can be found on the Samba Wiki: Samba Internal DNS Back End. Given these limitations, bind9_dlz could provide a more robust solution for users who require a full-featured DNS backend.
Could this be considered for future development? Please let me know if more details or discussions are needed.
Thank you!

Hi! Yes, this is something that I plan on implementing this fall. It will probably be around Christmas time before it's released. But yes, this is something I planned on integrating,
Thanks great! for now I'm running some basic scripts to be able to update A records with unix devices on my network, same as PTR for all on the AD. Just as it's limited needed to set DNS option to secure and nonsecure updates and make some restriction adjustments on firewall subnets for using dns port. I't kind of save, but you know.
Just an update here, I am still working through the bind_dlz... It's a little trickier than I thought :) I have a (personal) deadline to get this done by the second week of Feb.
