Pure and view functions still cost gas if they are called internally from another function. They are only free if they are called externally, from outside of the blockchain. retrieve() function is being called from store function. |

Supposedly "view" functions which do not modify the blockchain should not cost gas right? However it shows a gas amount estimate on my screen. Why is that?
