gizmo

lightweight emulation platform with ease of use and forking in mind, powered by webretro

GitHub Release GitHub Repo stars GitHub repo size

about

Gizmo is a lightweight, retro emulation site, able to be hosted on any static hosting platform. Gizmo is easy to set up and start playing, with a sleek UI featuring Rose Pine Colors. You can run Gizmo it completely offline, assuming you have your roms already downloaded.

deployment

Gizmo can be deployed anywhere that you can deploy static sites. This includes: Github Pages, Glitch, Netifly, Vercel, and more. Gizmo is lightweight, so it will be deployable on almost any platform. This does not mean that Gizmo will run as a downloaded file. Standalone builds are being worked on, but may not be completed due to how complicated Webretro is.

via terminal

clone the repo or open in a github codespace. it should automatically run yarn install and yarn start, but if you need to restart it, just re-run yarn start.

features

clean

Gizmo contains no fancy UI elements, and javascript is only used for webretro. This means that it loads quickly on any platform.

easy

Gizmo pushes away the ugly-but-useful UI that so many emulation platforms have, and replaces it with a beautiful UI that anyone can use without confusion.
